Everywhere, Everywhen, All The Time

That Young Kingdoms call has proved strong. With more than a passing eye on Demonbane, a Dragonbane game set in a Stormbringer world, I think I will press ahead to use Everywhen with Barbarians of Lemuria sprinkled attachments. Here’s the adventure pitch:

Adventures in the Young Kingdoms

Everywhen (Barbarians of Lemuria)

Your ship slinks into the harbour. Twilight paints the sky in rosy hues. The warm air is humid and thick with the smell of brine. The stink of rotted fish, sea weed and the muck of low tide mingle with the oily plumes of smoke from the many cooking fires of Dhoz-Kam. Fishermen browned by the sun finish their day’s work tending to their nets and catamarans along the shell covered beaches before heading home. The docks are crowded with ships from several of the Young Kingdoms, few fly their colours.

A decision is made to weigh anchor in the harbour and take a dinghy ashore. The oars slap against the warm waters. You see a fin rise slowly from the dark sea and languidly sinks again. It is a quick journey to shore. The barbarians take your measure before turning away when you meet their gaze. You trudge from the beach up to the waterfront. A line of ugly, uneven grey and brown dwellings stained with bird droppings mar the shore.

Along the waterfront, audible above the waves slapping against the docks and crawling over the rocky beaches, is the sound of music and the muffled cacophony of conversation and laughter from the large, squat slate-roofed building ahead of you. Ocean spray and sea salt have weathered the walls grey. It bears a faded sign of a black seahorse.

Together, a company of fortune, you each have reasons to travel to Dhoz-Kham. Perhaps weaving these strands of fate together will make you stronger, and give you a chance to meet each of your goals?

I will explore two routes to play.

Grogmeet, January 2026 – take the game to Manchester for some face to face play. I wonder if I can persuade John Ossoway to lend me his amazing thematic poker chips? If I can find some Stormbringer trade dress, then a simple bespoke character sheet might be in order.

Online through Foundry VTT – a short game of two sessions. Swilling around this, I contacted the developer of the Everywhen system about a bug, and they popped up and sorted it the next day! Rather nice of them, as they hadn’t really looked at the system for about eight months. While there they sorted out another existing issue that I’d noticed. So the system is now ready for some data entry of compendium to support play. I’ll get on and do some data entry!

Everywhen in Foundry with some growing compendium

Once the new Dragonbane Magic Book drops early next year, I will look again to see if potential longer form play might be Demonbane. You could just use Stormbringer 5 of course, but I love me some Dragonbane and it preserves the BRP legacy.

This absolutely wasn’t on my list of games, but sometimes it is just good to go with something that bubbles up and looks fun. I bought Dom’s lovely print map of the Young Kingdoms, after he’d finished using it, so it seems right that I follow that up, by getting it to the table.
